Welcome to the Fundamentals of Drama II page.  Here you will find the course syllabus as well as a weekly list of assignments and Project Binder work.  Class Rules are located on the Class Documents page.

Fundamentals of Drama II Syllabus

Week of November 16-20:  We will conclude our Improvisation Assessment on Monday and then begin our Play Analysis and Design Project beginning Wednesday.

Week of November 9-13:  We will have more improv practice on Tuesday and assessments on Thursday.

Week of November 2-6:  We will continue practicing different improvisation games and determine “what good improv is” and “how it can help us to improve as actors.”

Week of October 26-30:  We will assess Dearly Departed and then move on to an Improvisation Review Mini-Unit.  We will start with reviewing the Rules of Improv and play several games to help you improve your focus, performance skills, and expressiveness.

Week of October 19-23:  This week we will give final performances of Dearly Departed on Thursday.  We will also see Macbeth on Tuesday and discuss.  Make sure to turn in your Promptbook.

Week of October 12-16:  This week we will focus on rehearsing Dearly Departed.  Class will not meet on October 14 due to PSAT testing.

Week of October 5-9:  In addition to working on Dearly Departed, we will discuss Widows in preparation for the Theater Review due on October 14.

Week of September 28-October 2:  We will continue to work on Dearly Departed Scenes.  On Wednesday, there will be a school-wide writing exercise.

Week of September 21-25:  This week we will begin preparing our first acting project Dearly Departed.  In addition, we will work on Short Skill Scenes/Blank Scene Writing, Emotional Expressiveness, and review Stage Movement and Promptbook Symbols.

Week of September 14-18:  This week you will finish preparing your Silent Movie Pantomimes and present them for a grade.

Week of September 7-11:  We will work on principles of Pantomime.  You will also develop your Silent Movie Pantomime idea.

Week of August 31-September 4:  This week we will review the principles of Pantomime and begin working on our short Pantomime Plays to be produced next week.

Week of August 24-28:  This week you will present your Actor’s Instrument monologues for critique and grading.  On Friday, you will retake the Safety and Procedures Test, and we will dip into Pantomime.

Week of August 17-21:  This week you will explore the different elements of the Actor’s Instrument and begin training your own by preparing a monologue to be critiqued by the class.

Week of August 10-14:  During our first week, we will get to know one another and build a class ensemble by playing Theatre Games.
