TECHNICAL THEATER PERMISSION SLIP
Week of November 9-13: All Production Inventories, Controlling Idea Documents, and Lighting Activities are due on Tuesday. We will review drafting and scale drawing and begin working on set designs on Thursday.
Week of November 2-6: Students will complete their Production Inventories (60 points); Controlling Idea Paragraphs (75 points) and Color and Light Activities (50 points). Over the weekend, you should begin designing with color.
Week of October 26-30: Students of Technical Theater I will learn basic play conception skills using the piece “Spreading the News,” “The Mall,” or “Trifles.” Technical Theater II students will create design proposals for individual plays they select from the following:
A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare or Kiss Me Kate.
Week of October 19-23: We will see Macbeth on Tuesday. On Thursday, we will finish all restocking lists.
Week of October 12-16: We will continue strike and reorganize all storage areas including sound, sets, lighting, props, and scene shop. We will begin inventories and restocking lists.
Week of October 5-9: This week we will post-strike the Widows set and complete organization projects in all tech areas. You will also post-mortem the show for your review due on October 14.
Week of September 28-October 2: Class time spent exclusively on building, painting, lighting, and sound of Widows.
Week of September 21-25: Class time spent exclusively on building, painting, lighting, and sound of Widows. [Note: Classes were cancelled on September 22-23]
Week of September 14-18: Students will learn how to measure, cut, and assemble standard 4′x8′ stage decks.
Week of September 7-11: Basic woodworking skills will be taught and reviewed. Students will learn basic scale drawing principles, dimensional lumber specifications, and joints. Students will complete a simple cutting and joining project.
Week of August 31-September 4: Students will continue reading Widows and developing set, lighting and sound concepts as well as working on on-going organization projects.
